Unit 4: How Was the Constitution Used to Establish Our Government?

Why is our nation's Constitution so short? The Framers wrote the Constitution as a general framework, or plan, for the new government. They left out many details because they knew that future presidents and members of Congress would add them.

In this unit, you will discover how government was organized under the Constitution. You will be able to explain the positions of the Founders who supported the Constitution and the positions of those who were against it. You will also learn about some unexpected developments that have influenced the way our nation is governed today.
